Athletics
Sportsman’s Warehouse stocks a range of sprinting, middle-distance and specialist spiked shoes for athletics, suitable for events such as the 100m, 200m and 400m races. Between six to eight forefoot spikes provide grip for a spike, while the heel is made of rubber, as the strike impact occurs mostly at the forefoot during sprinting. The uppers are constructed of synthetic leather, nylon mesh, or a combination of both. Sprinting spikes are lightweight to allow the sprinter as much acceleration and freedom of movement as possible. It is also important that the fit of the spikes be as snug as possible; there should not be any movement or space around the foot. The length of the spikes themselves will vary depending on the running ground: on a tartan track the spike should be 7mm in length, whereas on grass more grip is required, so a 9mm length would be appropriate. We also stock a selection of athletic gear, including javelins, disci and hurdles.
